Love on a Hill

the edges of her unfurled

and she, fists clenched,

raised her hands skyward

worshiping dark, stars and moon she can’t

understand or deny.

lifted like an opening lily

cool wind wheeling about her waist

not a roar

but

a sigh and a smile

for everything she’s never seen

but loves with her whole heart.
